Acid Washes:

Acid washing is the preferred method for removing stains from plaster other pool surfaces. The process involves draining the water and applying an acid-based cleaning solution to achieve the best result. Algae, mineral stains, even dirt stains...an acid wash can make a dramatic aesthetic improvement.

Some pools may also have calcium nodules built up on their plaster (that resemble bird droppings) these can normally be sanded off while the pool is still drained.

Jim Caudle Co. can handle such procedures.

Acid is a dangerous substance. Pool company personnel are specially trained in its application and wear protective clothing and breathing apparatus during the acid wash. It is not recommended to do an acid wash on your own. Back To Top

Sanding The Surface:

After the "wash", the surface is rougher than when we started. So we sand the surface of the plaster on 98% of our projects to smooth the service again.

Epoxy Coating:

Epoxy pool coatings have proven to be the most effective long-range protection for swimming pool surfaces. This is due to the fact that epoxies cure to a very hard, non-porous finish that is insensitive to pool chemicals, ph balance and automatic pool cleaning machines. Their "ceramic-like" qualities create a fresh and inviting appearance that will be easy to clean and extremely durable.

Epoxy will last 8 - 10 years. If you want a long lasting epoxy pool surface - we don't recommend you do it yourself. We have been successfully painting pools for 30 years.

Plastering:

Plaster has been used as a swimming pool surface coating for the past 50 years.

Plaster is a durable surface that can stand up to the environment of proper pool water chemistry. It is the most economical pool surface and can easily last 15 to 25 years with proper maintenance and water balance. Improper water balance will destroy any pool surface and in many cases, void the warranty of that surface. Taking care of your pool takes time and attention. If your pool is not well maintained, a pool surface can become stained, discolored, and/or damaged. Stains on a plastered pool can be chemically removed or sanded off.

Before new plaster is applied, the old plaster must be removed. We have specialized equipment to do this job professionally so that your plaster will adhere to the gunite surface.

Pool Repair:

Pumps, Heaters, Filters Plumbing, Cleaners

Pool repair involves fixing any problem that your pool or pool equipment might have. These repairs can be minor, requiring only a little lubricant, or they can sometimes be larger. The following are some types of pool repair projects that might need to be done to your pool if it is having problems:

  • If you have a crack or a leak in the pool's surface, it might be due to bad chemistry, builder error or it's just old and worn out.

  • If you have a leak or a crack in your pool equipment, we can find out where the leak is coming from and make the pool equipment repair so that your pool is as good as new again.

  • If you have a leak or crack in the plaster or concrete walls of your pool, we can fix those as well.

  • If you have a problem with the pump or filter of your swimming pool, (for example, if you need the filter cleaned or you need the seal of the pump replaced), we can replace or repair the parts and pieces of your pool equipment as well.

We will be happy to give you a bid on any pool equiptment or job.
